The primary runway at the Philippines' greatest global air terminal was shut Monday because of overwhelming precipitation, with more than a hundred flights anticipated that would be postponed or occupied, authorities said.
A segment of the runway, which handles all huge air ship, endured critical breaks on Monday morning, driving it to close, flying and airplane terminal representatives said.
"It was a direct result of the substantial downpour with every one of those gigantic flying machine landing. There was a break (on the runway). It was excessively harmed so they had, making it impossible to close it for security reasons," said Eric Apolonio, representative for the administration's thoughtful flying office.
The split scattered little bits of trash fit for being sucked into motors, making it excessively risky, making it impossible to fly, he told AFP.
The runway shut down at 4 pm (0800 GMT) and is required to revive at 11 pm after repairs are done, Apolonio said.
Manila International Airport said more than 40 withdrawing flights would be deferred or scratched off while more than 60 approaching planes would need to be occupied.
